The greatest thing that ever happened in my life is…
when I received forgiveness for my sins by trusting in Jesus Christ and was saved from an eternity of separation in hell.
What my life was like before Christ.
I was young when I got saved- somewhere around the age of eight. I don’t remember much about what I was like before I was saved because I had not lived very long. I do know I realized that I had done wrong and that Jesus Christ was the only one that could truly forgive me of the things that I had done. Because of how old I was, my actual salvation experience is not what stands out most in my Christian life, although nothing I have experienced could have happened if it weren’t for that single event. The most exciting part of my salvation experience has come as I have learned to live for and walk with my savior Jesus Christ.
How I came to know Christ.
I don’t remember a lot of details about the night I was saved. I do remember that a week or two prior to getting saved, I had been asking my parents about it. They thought that I was too young to get saved and that I needed to wait. I did wait… a week or two. I remember laying in bed one Saturday night, getting ready to go to sleep, and asking Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sins. I remember announcing to my parents the next day that I had gotten saved. As I got older I struggled with knowing if I was actually saved (as most Christians probably do) and “just to be safe” I needlessly asked Jesus to save me numerous times throughout my teen years, but looking back I have always considered that Saturday night laying by myself in bed to be the instance when I got saved.
What life is now like with Christ.
I am still enjoying the journey of getting to know and serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The past nineteen or so years have yielded many lessons and experiences that I value. It isn’t to say that I could not have made better decisions in my life, but that God has used them to develop and mature me. Something that has stood out to me more recently in my walk with Jesus Christ is the simple fact that today is one chance I have to make an impact for God and prepare for tomorrow. Today I have the chance to live for Jesus Christ and be a living testimony for Him. I also have the opportunity to seek God and learn about Him. As I learn about God and who He is, I learn what He expects from me and what changes I need to make in my life so I can live better for Him and become closer to Him.
